The width of a kitchen chimney influences how effectively it captures rising smoke and cooking fumes. A chimney that adequately covers the cooking surface generally provides better smoke collection than one that is significantly narrower. During installation planning, technicians compare the appliance dimensions with the cooktop layout to achieve balanced airflow and effective extraction across the cooking area.

Cooking continuously changes air movement inside the kitchen. Rising heat, steam and smoke interact with natural ventilation, open windows and ceiling fans. A properly positioned kitchen chimney captures these moving air currents before they spread throughout the room. Understanding these airflow patterns helps explain why installation position plays such an important role in effective smoke removal.

Air leakage at duct joints reduces the amount of smoke reaching the outdoor outlet. Properly secured and sealed connections help maintain airflow while preventing grease-laden air from escaping inside ceilings or cabinets. During installation, technicians inspect every accessible joint to confirm a secure fit. Well-sealed duct connections contribute to efficient ventilation and cleaner surrounding spaces.
