During installation, technicians consider the outlet location to help maintain consistent ventilation while protecting the duct opening from unnecessary exposure to outdoor elements.

The outdoor exhaust cap protects the duct opening while allowing smoke to exit the building. During periodic inspection, technicians may check that the cap opens freely and is not obstructed by debris or nesting materials. Keeping the exhaust outlet clear helps maintain proper airflow and supports efficient chimney operation.
