Water leakage from home appliances usually traces back to one of a few recurring sources, and identifying which one is involved narrows down the repair considerably. In air conditioners, leakage is most often caused by a blocked condensate drain line or a cracked drain pan, both of which cause water to overflow inside the room rather than draining outside as designed.
In washing machines, leakage can originate from a worn door seal on front-load models, a loose or cracked hose connection, or a faulty inlet valve that allows water to enter even when the machine is not actively filling. Refrigerators can develop leaks when the defrost drain, which channels water from the automatic defrost cycle to an evaporation pan, becomes blocked with ice or debris, causing water to pool inside the fridge or drip beneath it.
Dishwashers may leak from a worn door gasket or a failing pump seal, often noticeable as water pooling on the kitchen floor near the base of the unit after a wash cycle. In all these cases, identifying whether the leak occurs during operation, after operation, or continuously helps distinguish between a seal failure, a blockage, or a valve malfunction before any parts are opened up for inspection.
