The length of the exhaust duct has a direct influence on chimney performance. Longer duct runs create additional airflow resistance, making it more difficult for smoke to leave the kitchen efficiently. Installation planning generally aims to keep the duct as short and straight as practical while maintaining proper safety requirements. Fewer bends and shorter duct lengths help improve suction performance and reduce unnecessary load on the chimney motor.

External weather conditions such as strong winds or heavy rain generally have little effect on a properly installed chimney, but poorly positioned outdoor vents may experience airflow disturbances. During installation, technicians consider the outlet location to help maintain consistent ventilation while protecting the duct opening from unnecessary exposure to outdoor elements.

Long-term chimney performance depends on consistent maintenance rather than occasional deep cleaning alone. Keeping filters clean, monitoring airflow, inspecting duct connections, checking mounting stability, and arranging professional servicing when recommended all contribute to reliable operation. A preventive approach helps maintain efficient smoke extraction, supports cleaner kitchen conditions, and allows the appliance to perform consistently throughout its service life.
