Many homeowners compare kitchen chimneys using suction ratings alone. However, overall performance depends on both airflow volume and installation quality. A chimney with a powerful motor may still perform poorly if the duct is excessively long, filters are dirty or airflow is restricted. Likewise, a properly installed chimney with a well-designed duct system often delivers better smoke removal than a more powerful model installed incorrectly. Evaluating the complete ventilation system provides a more realistic understanding of actual kitchen performance.

Long horizontal duct sections may encourage grease deposits because airflow velocity gradually decreases as particles travel through the duct. Whenever practical, installers design duct routes that remain short and direct while following manufacturer recommendations. Efficient duct layouts reduce airflow resistance, simplify maintenance and help maintain consistent smoke extraction during daily cooking.

Kitchen walls may be constructed from reinforced concrete, solid brick, hollow blocks or lightweight partition materials. Because each surface behaves differently under load, installers choose mounting anchors that match the wall structure. Using appropriate fasteners improves stability, distributes the chimney's weight correctly and reduces long-term movement or vibration. Evaluating the wall before installation is an important part of achieving a secure mounting system.
