The overall size and layout of a kitchen affect how smoke, steam and cooking odours move through the room. In compact kitchens, cooking fumes usually reach the chimney intake quickly because the distance between the cooktop and surrounding walls is relatively small. Larger open kitchens contain a greater volume of air, allowing smoke to disperse over a wider area before reaching the ventilation system. Proper chimney sizing, installation height and airflow management help maintain effective smoke extraction regardless of kitchen dimensions. Considering the complete kitchen layout during installation supports balanced airflow and improved indoor air quality.
