A preventive maintenance routine helps keep a kitchen chimney operating efficiently throughout its service life. Cleaning filters, checking grease collectors, monitoring airflow, inspecting mounting hardware, and arranging professional servicing when required all contribute to reliable performance. Addressing small maintenance needs promptly may also reduce the likelihood of more extensive servicing later.
Inspection of grease build-up and filter condition
Baffle/mesh filter removal and deep degreasing
Motor housing and duct-mouth cleaning
Auto-clean function check (if applicable)
Filter refitting and suction test
Final wipe-down and odour check
Static pressure is the resistance that the chimney motor must overcome while pushing air through the duct. Long ducts, sharp bends, dirty filters and blocked outlets all increase static pressure. As resistance rises, airflow decreases even if the motor continues running normally. Proper duct design, regular filter cleaning and keeping the external outlet unobstructed help reduce static pressure and improve overall extraction performance. Understanding this concept explains why two identical chimneys may perform differently depending on the installation.
Expect to pay roughly ₹499–₹1499 for IFB chimney clean in Barrackpore. A kitchen chimney performs best when fresh replacement air can enter the room. Cross ventilation created by partially opening a window or allowing airflow from another room helps replace the air exhausted by the chimney. Balanced air movement improves smoke extraction efficiency and reduces the likelihood of cooking fumes remaining inside the kitchen during extended cooking sessions.
