Flexible aluminium ducts are convenient during installation but should not be left hanging unsupported over long distances. Unsupported sections may sag, collect grease, or create unnecessary airflow resistance. Installers generally secure flexible ducts using suitable supports while avoiding sharp compression that could restrict airflow. Proper support helps maintain consistent extraction performance and simplifies future inspection.

A kitchen chimney performs best when every component of the ventilation system works together. The motor, blower, grease filter, duct, electrical supply, mounting hardware and outdoor exhaust all contribute to overall performance. A problem in any single component can influence airflow throughout the entire system. Professional installation and periodic maintenance therefore focus on inspecting the complete ventilation path rather than individual parts alone. Understanding the chimney as a complete system helps homeowners appreciate why regular inspection and proper installation practices are important for reliable long-term performance.

The journey of cooking fumes begins above the cooktop, passes through the grease filters, enters the blower housing, travels along the exhaust duct and finally exits through the outdoor vent. Every component along this path influences overall chimney performance. Dirty filters, poorly designed ducting, blocked outlets or inadequate maintenance can reduce airflow even when the motor itself operates normally. Looking at the complete airflow path rather than individual components provides a better understanding of how kitchen chimneys achieve efficient smoke extraction and why regular maintenance remains an important part of long-term performance.
