The capture area is the invisible zone where smoke, steam and grease are collected before spreading into the kitchen. A properly installed chimney creates a controlled upward airflow that keeps contaminants moving toward the filters. The size of the capture area depends on chimney width, mounting height and blower performance. Maintaining clean filters and unobstructed airflow helps preserve efficient smoke collection during daily cooking.

Cooking appliances naturally generate heat that temporarily raises kitchen temperature. Although a chimney removes a portion of this warm air together with smoke and steam, some heat may remain until fresh air enters the room. Maintaining effective ventilation supports improved comfort while helping remove excess cooking heat more efficiently.
