Every bend in the exhaust duct changes the direction of moving air. Gentle curves create less resistance, while sharp ninety-degree bends disturb airflow and reduce suction efficiency. Multiple bends also encourage grease accumulation because air velocity decreases around corners. During installation, technicians usually try to keep the duct route as straight as possible with the minimum practical number of bends. This improves airflow while reducing unnecessary motor load.
