Hot cooking fumes naturally rise because warm air is less dense than surrounding cooler air. A kitchen chimney creates controlled airflow that captures these rising fumes before they spread across the kitchen. Cross drafts created by ceiling fans, open doors or strong windows may influence these airflow patterns. Proper chimney positioning helps improve smoke capture under normal cooking conditions.

Efficient smoke extraction depends on the combined performance of every component within the kitchen chimney system. The blower creates airflow, filters separate grease, ducts transport exhaust, electrical controls regulate operation and the outdoor vent releases cooking fumes safely outside. Weakness in any one area can reduce overall performance even when other components function normally. Viewing the chimney as an integrated ventilation system helps homeowners understand the importance of proper installation, routine maintenance and timely inspection for reliable long-term operation.
Expect to pay roughly ₹799–₹2499 for Kaff chimney install in Cossipore. A minimum inspection fee of ₹350 applies if you decide not to proceed after the visit — this is adjusted against the final bill if you go ahead. All install work carries a 90-day SharkCool service warranty, covering workmanship on the job performed.
Before switching on a Kaff chimney after installing, we test the electrical connection and confirm the ducting seal is airtight — not just that the fan spins.

Air velocity describes how quickly smoke and cooking fumes travel through the exhaust duct. Well-designed duct systems maintain sufficient air movement to transport grease particles outside before they settle inside the duct. Excessively long duct runs, unnecessary bends or partial obstructions reduce air velocity and increase resistance. Maintaining smooth airflow helps support efficient extraction and simplifies long-term maintenance.
