Hot air naturally rises because it is less dense than cooler surrounding air. Kitchen chimneys take advantage of this natural movement by positioning the intake above the cooktop. The blower strengthens this upward airflow, helping remove smoke, steam and airborne grease before they spread through the kitchen. Correct installation height allows the chimney to work efficiently with these natural airflow patterns.

The inside surface of an exhaust duct influences how easily air travels through the ventilation system. Smooth interior walls create less turbulence than rough surfaces, allowing smoke and grease particles to move more efficiently toward the outlet. Reduced airflow resistance supports better extraction performance while minimizing unnecessary load on the blower motor. Proper duct selection therefore contributes to long-term ventilation efficiency.
