Many modern kitchen chimneys include a removable oil collector that gathers separated grease. During routine maintenance, the collector should be inspected and cleaned before grease accumulates excessively. Keeping this component clean helps maintain hygiene while preventing hardened grease from affecting nearby internal parts. Oil collector maintenance complements regular filter cleaning for overall chimney care.
Inspection of grease build-up and filter condition
Baffle/mesh filter removal and deep degreasing
Motor housing and duct-mouth cleaning
Auto-clean function check (if applicable)
Filter refitting and suction test
Final wipe-down and odour check
Observing chimney performance at regular intervals helps identify gradual changes before they become significant. Homeowners can monitor smoke removal, airflow strength, operating sound and visible grease accumulation. Periodic performance checks make it easier to schedule maintenance when needed and help maintain reliable extraction throughout the appliance's service life.

During cooking, hot air naturally rises from the cooktop carrying smoke, steam and microscopic grease particles. A kitchen chimney creates controlled airflow that captures these rising contaminants before they spread across the room. If airflow is interrupted by poor installation, blocked filters or unsuitable ducting, some particles may escape into the surrounding kitchen. Maintaining an unobstructed ventilation path helps the chimney remove airborne contaminants more effectively.
