Small gaps in duct joints can reduce overall chimney performance by allowing smoke or grease-laden air to escape before reaching the outdoor outlet. During installation, technicians inspect duct connections carefully and secure them using suitable sealing methods where required. Proper duct sealing supports efficient airflow and helps maintain cleaner kitchen surroundings.

A well-planned duct route allows smoke and cooking fumes to travel outside with minimal resistance. Excessively long duct runs or multiple sharp bends may reduce airflow efficiency and increase motor workload. Installers generally aim for the shortest practical route while following manufacturer recommendations. Smooth airflow supports better suction and more consistent extraction performance.

The diameter of a kitchen chimney duct determines how easily smoke, steam, heat and grease-laden air leave the kitchen. When a duct is smaller than the manufacturer's recommendation, airflow becomes restricted and the motor has to work harder to maintain suction. This extra resistance can increase operating noise, reduce smoke extraction efficiency and shorten motor life over time. An oversized duct is generally less harmful but may require proper adapters to prevent air leakage. During installation, technicians normally use the duct size specified by the chimney manufacturer to balance airflow, pressure and motor performance. Selecting the correct diameter is one of the most important factors affecting long-term chimney efficiency.
