Cooking creates rising columns of warm air mixed with steam, grease particles and smoke. A properly positioned chimney captures these air currents before they spread across the room. External influences such as ceiling fans, open windows or air conditioners may alter airflow patterns. Professional installation takes these conditions into account when positioning the chimney above the cooktop.

Kitchen ventilation works most effectively when fresh air can replace the air exhausted by the chimney. Good airflow throughout the home supports consistent smoke removal and helps reduce lingering cooking odours. Natural ventilation, where available, complements the chimney by allowing replacement air to enter while the ventilation system is operating.
